    Management Changes Every 5 Years

    From student With corrections

Claim: In any field—business, politics, education, government—those in power should step down after five years.
Reason: The surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalisation through new leadership.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.

It's claimed that managers and politicians should be replaced each five years, because such approach undoubtedly leads to success of any government or enterprise. I strongly believe that such action sometimes is not necessary. Moreover it can lead to failure of business or country development.

I will write about business, but it can be applied to any enterprise.

First of all, managers is a face of the company and people become accustomed to it during five years so much that they start equate both notions, company and manager. Therefore, business without constant leader will become impersonal which, I think, is not good for public relation of company. For instance, after Steve Jobs left CEO position of Apple inc., a lot of people said that it’s beginning of the end of Apple company. Of course, it doesn’t mean that it’s true, but as fact its shares go down on 8% on the first day after announcement.

Another reason why it’s not such good idea to change those who in power is that some good ideas which old leader start develop could be not finished with new one. It’s easy to understand, because sometimes analyse somebody else’s way of thinking is harder than start all over again. But what would be with good projects that required more that five years to be finished? I think that before any changes in management take place, all task should be done somehow.

And last but not least reason is that new leader could change workflow. Such changes could break a well organised group which brings a good results every year. For example, in an organisation where I works new CEO came. First thing that he did was changing everything like it was at his previous company, which doesn’t works at new place. Because of it, a lot of good employee left the company.

In sum, everything changes in time, but sometimes for changes should be the prerequisites. As regards changes in managements of organisation, it’s better leave how it is if it's not required because of extra requirements.
